UK geophysical tools to boost seismic surveys in Ecuador

UK geophysical services firm WGP Energy Services has been contracted by Russian state company and geological sea surveyor State Sevmorgeo Company (SMG) for seismic survey operations in Ecuador. The pair had already teamed up on a set of successful Arctic surveys over the past two years.
The project includes the acquisition of 2D and 3D seismic surveys in transition zone and shallow waters for which SMG will utilise Fairfield Z-700 Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN). Seismic equipment will also be installed temporarily. In addition, portable modular source systems will be operated by WGP and installed on vessels of opportunity.
“This project again shows our interest and capability of undertaking new challenges,” said WGP’s CTO Terry Hibben.
The surveys are scheduled to commence on February 14 and last until 15 June, with work on pre-mobilisation underway.
