Saipem has been awarded new engineering and construction (E&C) offshore contracts

Saipem has been awarded new engineering and construction (E&C) offshore contracts in Indonesia and in the Republic of Congo worth approximately USD 520m.

In Indonesia, Eni has granted a consortium led by Saipem the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract for a newly constructed barge Floating Production Unit (FPU) for the Jangkrik Complex Project development.

The consortium, which was created by Hyundai Heavy Industries Ltd (HHI), consists of a joint venture between Saipem, Tripatra Engineers & Constructors and Chiyoda. The value of the contract for the project is USD 1.1 bn.

The newly constructed spread-moored FPU will have a “treating capacity of 450MMSCFD of gas plus condensates.” The work will involve engineering, procurement, fabrication of the FPU and the installation of a mooring system along with the hook-up, commissioning and assistance to the start-up.

The Jangkrik FPU project will be conducted from the Saipem Execution Centre in Jakarta. The topsides fabrication activities will be carried out in Saipem’s Karimun Island Yard, which is located in Indonesia, while the hull will be fabricated in HHI’s offshore yard in Ulsan in South Korea.

This contract is consistent with Saipem’s strategy of growth.

Asia Pacific represents an important and strategic area of development for Saipem, where the company is currently involved in technically complex projects in the area related to various floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) initiatives.

In the Republic of Congo, Saipem has been granted a contract by Aker Solutions for the fabrication of subsea structures, which include suction anchors, for the Moho project.

This project will be using local fabrication capabilities that Saipem has developed over the years with its Boscongo Yard in Pointe Noire.
