Prysmian Group presented with contract from Petrobras for a DHT system

Prysmian Group, an Italian company specializing in the energy and telecom cables and systems, has been presented with a USD 24m contract from Brazilian oil company Petrobras.

The award concerns the Down Hole Technology (DHT) systems for offshore oil and gas extraction application that will be delivered in July 2014 and produced in the Group’s facilities in Bridgewater, NJ and Cariacica, Brazil.

DHT systems are described as “technology-driven specialty products for oil, gas and geothermal wells”, which include Tubing Encapsulated Cables used in individual wells to monitor temperature, pressure, and other parameters to better control flow though overall reservoirs.

Prysmian Group was recently awarded with the annual Petrobras award for Best Supplier of Goods and Services in the Campos Basin.

The award is intended to pay tribute to companies that show the best quality levels with regard to the supply of goods and services to Petrobras’ divisions in the region.

Competitiveness and performance, particularly safety and on-time delivery, were among the many standards for the selection of winners.

Other significant names in the contest included Halliburton, which placed second in the same category won by Prysmian, as well as FMC Technologies and Ernst & Young.
