Petrobras oil production down 4.6 per cent in July
Petrobras’ oil production in July slipped 4.6 per cent due on offshore maintenance works, the company announced on Tuesday.
Oil production from all Petrobras-operated fields dropped to 1.888 million barrels per day (bpd) from 1.979 mmbpd the month prior.
The Brazilian oil giant said the dip was due to planned maintenance works on offshore platforms operating in the Campos Basin.
Petrobras’ total monthly oil and natural gas production in Brazil hit an average of 2.282 mmbpd, 4.9 per cent lower against the preceding month.
Additional work on the underwater layout was recently completed on the P-63 platform to make it adhere to environmental licensing conditions. The unit will operate in the Papa-Terra field in the post-salt Campos Basin.
The P-63 and other platforms slated to go online in Q2 2013 (P-55, P-58 and P-61) are expected to contribute to an increase in the company’s oil production.
