Together, the drills indicate the presence of another new light oil column, with a thickness of 28 metres and located in the deepest reserves

The well-testing results have confirmed the discovery of oil and gas in the Farfan area first announced in August 2014 (between 37º and 40º API).

Together, the drills indicate the presence of another new light oil column, with a thickness of 28 metres and located in the deepest reserves.

The well is located at around 107 kilometres offshore from the city of Aracaju, 5.7 kilometres away from the initial discovery well.

Well 9-SES-188D is at 2,492-metres below sea level, having reached a final depth of 5,900 metres.

This accumulation is part of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin deep-water exploration project, according to Petrobras´ Business and Management Plan for the 2014-2018 period.

Petrobras will continue with the Discovery Evaluation Plan, as approved by Brazil’s Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP).

Petrobras is the operator of the consortium (60 per cent) in partnership with IBV-BRASIL (40 per cent).
