Kongsberg to manage RIM services at Statoil project

Statoil has contracted Kongsberg to provide flexible RIM services at the Peregrino oilfield.

Kongsberg will be providing Statoil Brasil Óleo e Gás with annulus testing, inspection, integrity assessment and follow up of the flexible riser, including technical support annulus testing, inspection, integrity assessment and follow up of the flexible risers, including technical support.

The initial contract is for four years but could be extended to six.

“In addition to our well known technical expertise within flexible riser technology, we are pleased to see that Statoil also recognises Kongsberg’s operational experience and knowledge obtained through several projects both for Statoil and other major operators,” commented Torgrim Andersen, department manager riser engineering, Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies.

The contractual obligations will be managed by Kongsberg's office in Rio de Janeiro with engineering assistance from their Huston office and head office in Norway.

Kongsberg has for several years been working closely with major operators including Total, Talisman, NAM, ExxonMobil and Chevron on tasks and challenges related to RIM services.

It was recently (17/3/14) awarded a huge contract to deliver substantial technology packages for ten new pipelaying vessels ordered by Brazilian multinational energy corporation, Petrobras. In contracts valued approx. NOK 118 Million, the scope of supply includes Kongsberg Maritime's leading offshore vessel technology including Dynamic Positioning (DP), position reference systems, propulsion control and automation.
