Indian jack-up rig off to Malaysia

India’s largest offshore drilling contractor will supply Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas with one of its fleet’s jack-up rigs, it was announced on Wednesday.
India-based Aban Offshore has been awarded a USD 152.75m contract from Petronas for the deployment of Deep Driller 3, a KFels Super B Class type jack-up rig for a period of 36 months, the company said in a press release.
The three year firm contract will see the rig deployed off Malaysia.
Deep Driller 3 is capable of operating in water depths of up to 350 feet and drilling to a total depth of 35,000 feet. It has a hull length overall of 246 feet and hull breadth overall of 218 feet.
Its power generation equipment boasts 5 x Warsila Model 6L26A2 engines and its top drive is set with a National Oilwell Varco Model HPS-1000-2E-AC-KT, 2000 kip.
