GE Oil & Gas has announced the establishment of a consolidated Reciprocating Compression (RC) business, bringing together its previous Gas Production and Distribution product line and the Reciprocating Compressor product line acquired from Cameron in June 2014

This positions the new RC business to work seamlessly with its global customers and partners to deliver reciprocating compression innovation and technology that optimises the production and distribution of natural gas.

GE put its expertise to work by taking advantage of its GE turbomachinery heritage; from research and development through project engineering, financing, global support infrastructure, and 24/7 service capability. GE delivers reliability and availability for end-users everywhere, every day that enhances their operations while providing lower lifecycle costs.

“Reciprocating compressors are the heart of natural gas production,” said Rich Stegall, general manager of RC.  “Because of this, quality and reliability are particularly key. Our new business offers the highest industry standards for both, while maintaining high environmental standards, and continually seeking to reduce costs. The success of the new consolidated business approach can already be seen in a series of significant contract wins, including an USD 8.0m order from EmbaMunaiGas in Kazakhstan and a USD 7.1m order from Engro in Pakistan.”

Over the last fifty years, the Ajax line of slow-speed integral gas engine-compressors has earned an industry-wide reputation for extreme reliability (98 per cent or greater availability), that lowers operating and maintenance costs. GE will be introducing the ultra-low emissions (ULE) Ajax 2800 series in 2Q 2015 that will be the first of its product line to emit less than 0.5 g/bhph NOx. Growing emission concerns and regulations internationally in countries of the EU, the US, and India for example, are driving the demand for lower emission compliant products like the Ajax ULE compressors.
