Argentina to drill more shale wells in Chabut region

Argentina plans to drill at least 15 more shale oil and gas well in the country’s southern Chabut region over the nest three years, according to a local official

San Jorge is located more around 1,000 kilometres southeast of Vaca Muerta, where ExxonMobil made its first discovery of non-conventional gas and crude oil earlier this week

This comes within days of announcing the country’s first shale discovery, located in the San Jorge basin.

"There are a lot of areas available for exploration," said Ezequiel Cufre, Chubut's energy official.

YPF intends to drill 11 more wells over the coming three years, while local company Tecpetrol drills another four, Cufre said.

San Jorge is located more around 1,000 kilometres southeast of Vaca Muerta, where ExxonMobil made its first discovery of non-conventional gas and crude oil earlier this week.
