SPECIAL REPORT: Shale provides boost to future of gas

Shale
provides boost to future of gas

Shale oil and gas are vital to our long-term energy supply and although it remains a controversial topic, they are based on sound technology that has been tried and tested over the years.

Shale gas is found in shale “plays,” which are shale formations containing significant accumulations of natural gas and which share similar geologic and geographic properties. A decade of production has come from the Barnett Shale play in Texas.

EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION: FPSOs provide flexibility to drilling operations

FPSOs provide flexibility to drilling operations

With oil prices well above the USD100 per barrel mark and likely to climb even higher in coming years, global demand for floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units is expected to double in the coming years until the end of the decade

Consistently high crude prices, coupled with rapidly depleting shallow water and onshore reserves, are forcing exploration and production companies to forage deeper and further offshore than was previously viable.
