Russia and Ukraine discuss natural gas injection into UGS facilities
Russia wants to ensure that uninterrupted transit of its gas to Europe is maintained during the upcoming autumn-winter period

Gazprom’s headquarters on Wednesday hosted a meeting between the chairman of the company’s management committee Alexey Miller and Ukranian vice prime minister Yury Boiko.

The parties discussed issues related to natural gas injection into underground gas storage (UGS) facilities by Naftogaz Ukrainy, Ukraine’s national oil and gas company.

UGS facilities help smooth out seasonal fluctuations in gas demand, reduce peak loads and provide for flexibility and reliability of gas supply.

Russia wants to ensure that uninterrupted transit of its gas to Europe is maintained during the upcoming autumn-winter period, typically a time of peak demand.
