On July 3, CNPC's Xiangguosi underground gas storage has entered its large-scale gas injection stage as four new injection and extraction wells became operational

Xiangguosi Gas Storage has a designed storage capacity of 4.2 billion cubic metres

The gas storage is expected to provide 10 million cubic metres of natural gas to the major pipeline networks in China for winter peak shaving purposes later this year. 

Located in the Chongqing Municipality and being connected to the Zhongwei-Guiyang Gas Pipeline and the Myanmar-China Gas Pipeline, the Xiangguosi Gas Storage has a designed storage capacity of 4.2 billion cubic metres, serving the role of seasonal peak shaving, emergency gas supply, and strategic reserve for the whole country as well as for the Sichuan and Chongqing region.
