Videocon discovers 200 feet high-quality hydrocarbon zone at Wahoo in Brazil

India’s Videocon Industries has confirmed the discovery of a 200 feet high-quality hydrocarbon zone at Wahoo, its offshore block in Brazil. The company, in joint venture with the state owned Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd, invested USD 205.3m to acquire a 25 per cent stake in BM-C-30.

 

Videocon Hydrocarbon Holdings Ltd director of global exploration and production business Pradeep N Dhoot said: "The notable success of the appraisal well Wahoo#5 in the BM-C-30 Campos Block has further added to the hydrocarbon resources already indicated in the said block, and is a further addition to the discoveries in our Brazilian concessions in the Sergipeand Espirito Santo basins, underlining the value of our efforts in Brazil."

 

The block operator Anadarko Petroleum said: "The Wahoo-5 appraisal well at BM-C-30 drilled the eastern flank of the Wahoo structure and encountered more than 200 net feet of high-quality pay in a pre-salt reservoir, with a total hydrocarbon column now established at 460 feet."

 

Other stake holders in the block include Anadarko, Maersk and BP holding 30 per cent, 20 per cent and 25 per cent stakes respectively.
