French project management company Technip will work on the Heera Redevelopment (HRD) process platform project in the Arabian Sea, it emerged on Monday, as part of a USD 68m contract awarded by Indian oil giant Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC).

Some USD 68m make up Technip’s share of the contract awarded by ONGC. In total, the contract is valued at nearly USD 300m and extends to a consortium of firms which include India’s third largest construction group AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd and offshore and Kuala Lumpur based marine crane manufacturer TH Heavy Engineering Berhad.

The HRD project is located approximately 70 kilometres south-west of Mumbai, India. The scope of work comprises engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation, hook-up and commissioning of the HRD process platform; shifting of the existing cable in the seabed; installation of a new bridge connecting the existing HRC process platform; the strengthening of the existing bridge; and the modification on an existing HRC process platform to ensure interconnections between all the process lines and the utilities.

The topsides will be designed for the float-over installation using the group’s proprietary Unideck integrated deck installation system with the support of Technip’s operating centre in Paris, France. The project is scheduled to be completed in the first semester of 2015.
