Norwegian fire and gas detection systems serve Shell FLNG facility

Norwegian based fire safety equipment manufacturer Autronica Fire and Security AS, Division Oil & Gas has announced that it will supply integrated fire and gas detection systems to Shell’s upcoming floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility.
The deal comprises Autronica’s AutroSafe 4 Integrated Fire and Gas Detection System (IFG), including flame and gas detectors. The gas sampling systems will be manufactured in Tønsberg, Norway. The delivery will take place in early 2013, according to the Norwegian company.
Shell’s FLNG facility is 488 metres long and 74 metres wide, weighing a maximum of 600,000 tonnes when fully loaded. The project is named ”Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG)”, and the facility will operate at the gas field Prelude offshore of Western Australia.
