During the 11th tender which took place in May, 142 of the 289 blocks on offer were successfully distributed over 11 sedimentary basins

A further 60 contracts were signed on Friday with 20 national and international energy companies under Brazil’s 11th oil and gas round, the country’s petroleum regulator announced in a press release.

 

Some 20 companies from around the world made successful bids, including Petrobras and OGX from Brazil, ExxonMobil from the US and Alvopetro from Canada, BP, BG Energy and Premier Oil from the UK as well as the Brazilian arm of Statoil and Total.

 

A total of 87 contracts have been signed since 6 August.

 

During the 11th tender which took place in May, 142 of the 289 blocks on offer were successfully distributed over 11 sedimentary basins.

 

The round amassed a record USD 1.17bn in contracts and assigned an area totalling 100.3 sq km. Future E&P investments are estimated to reach USD 2.9bn as per Brazil’s Programa Exploratório Mínimo (minimum exploration programme).

 

In total, 39 companies from 12 countries participated. Some 30 companies were successful bidders, with 12 being domestic and 18 foreign.

 

The deadline for signing concession contracts for the blocks is 17 September 2013.
