India: Aban Offshore deploys drillship for ONGC
The Aban Ice is able to operate in waters up to 2000 feet deep and drill at depths of up to 20,000 ft

Aban Offshore Limited has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Indian oil major ONGC for deployment of drillship Aban Ice for a firm period of 3 years off the west coast of India.

The total value of the LOA is approximately USD 185m.

The contract is expected to commence during the last quarter of 2013.

The Aban Ice drillship measures 183 meters in length and 21.7 m in breadth. It is able to operate in waters up to 2000 feet deep and drill at depths of up to 20,000 ft.

The drillship’s draw works consist of Oil Well E-2000, 1600 HP. The platform is driven by two EMD D-79-MB DC motors and its propulsion engines are Provence Doxford Model LBD-65.
