Eight companies were cleared to explore for oil and gas in several blocks
Brazil’s USD 1.8bn 11th oil and gas round saw a further 31 concession contracts signed on Tuesday, the country’s national oil and gas regulator announced, bringing the total number of contracts since August to 118.
Eight companies were cleared to explore for oil and gas in several blocks. Petra Energia claimed the most blocks (15), followed by Geopark (7), Brasoil Manati (3) and OGX (1).
Five blocks were assigned to more than one stakeholder. Chevron and Ecopetrol will share one block on an equitable basis, with Petra Energia controlling 70 per cent of the remaining four blocks, two of which will be shared with Queiroz Galvão and the other two with Niko Resources.
