Foster Wheeler joins Russian hydroprocessing project
The subsidiary of a global engineering and construction contractor on Wednesday announced it will provide management services for the construction phase of a hydroprocessing project at a refinery in Russia’s Far East with the aim to produce more efficient higher-value and lighter products.
A Foster Wheeler subsidiary has signed a technical services agreement with Khabarovsk Oil Processing Refinery to provide construction management services for the hydroprocessing project at the refinery in Russia’s Far East.
The project’s goal is to produce higher-value, lighter products.
The hydroprocessing complex includes a hydrocracker, hydrotreater, hydrogen unit, amine regeneration unit, sour water stripper, sulphur recovery unit, vapour recovery unit, waste water treatment unit, ground flare, tank farm and pump houses. The hydrogen plant is based on Foster Wheeler’s proprietary Terrace Wall steam methane reforming technology.
“Foster Wheeler has been working at this refinery for ten years,” said Umberto della Sala, president and COO, Foster Wheeler. “We executed the front-end engineering design for the entire hydroprocessing complex, basic design for the hydrogen production facility, design and supply of the steam reformers for the hydrogen plant, and have been providing on-going project management consultancy services as the project progressed into the engineering, procurement and construction phases.”
