China: CNPC tanks for Burma terminal near completion

Six storage tanks are almost completed at China National Petroleum Corporation’s (CNPC) oil terminal in Burma, according to a Reuters report. The facility will supply energy to one of China’s provinces.
Chinese Huanqui Contracting & Engineering is building the tanks, which have a 100,000 cubic meters storage capacity. This will bring the terminal’s total storage capacity to 1.2 million cubic meters. The remaining infrastructure will be ready in two months.
The facility will also feature two pipelines: a crude oil pipeline that will transport 440,000 barrels per day when it comes online in 2014, and a 12 billion cubic meters natural gas pipeline due to start up later this year.
The terminal is being built on a 10km2 island off Burma and will supply oil and gas to China’s Yunnan province.
