Braemar appointed for world’s largest FLNG project

British marine firm Braemar Engineering announced it has been appointed by United LNG for the world’s largest floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production project near Venice, Louisiana.
The LNG technical consultancy firm of Braemar Shipping Services said it would act as the owner’s engineer for the development of the project near the Gulf of Mexico.
The project will include three floating liquefaction units projected to export up to 24 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG, commencing in spring 2018.
Braemar’s role also includes modification of existing offshore structures, construction of new facilities as well as the development and progression of floating liquefaction storage vessels.
The projected production capacity for the planned FLNG facility surpasses Shell’s Prelude by over 20 million mtpa.
