Petrobras plans to install 13 new FPSOs in blocks Block BM-S-9 and BM-S-11 by 2017, located between 200 to 300 kilometres off the Brazilian coast

Ibema’s granting of an environmental licence for the development was passed following consultations with relevant interested parties including local governments and environmental agencies active in the area such as the Sao Paulo forestry commission and the Santa Catarina, Parana, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero coastal municipalities.

Petrobras plans to install 13 new FPSOs in blocks Block BM-S-9 and BM-S-11 by 2017, located between 200 to 300 kilometres off the Brazilian coast.

The licence comes just in time for Petrobras as the first of these FPSOs, the Cidade de Ilhabela, left its shipyard yesterday en-route to its working location in the Sapinhoá field.

According to Petrobras, the project has an estimated cost of USD 51.4bn and will contribute an extra 742,000 barrels per day of oil and 31 million cubic metres of gas.
