HERMETIC-Pumpen GmbH honoured with Russian manufacturing award

The Gundelfingen-based company was given an award for their sealless centrifugal-pumps

HERMETIC-Pumpen GmbH, a German firm that develops sealless centrifugal pumps, was presented with the “Russian oil and gas industries’ best centrifugal-pump manufacturer for 2013” award during the Neftegaz Pererabotka conference for Russian refineries. The company currently has a subsidiary in North America, HERMETIC-Pumps Inc., which has its own service and logistics centre. It has also opened a plant and service workshops in China in order to cover the Asia-Pacific markets.

The requirements for pumps used in refineries are high because of the toxic and hazardous materials that are frequently released. As a result of this, demands concerning safety are high in this sector. Examples of these standards include the American Petroleum Institute (API) which requires leak proof or hermetically-sealed pumps, such as canned motor pumps.

The HERMETIC canned motor pumps are made to handle extreme conditions. The pump’s technology provides reliable safety against all types of leakage from liquids that are being transported.

This kind of technology has gained popularity in refineries worldwide as a second hermetically-sealed containment shell.  In addition, the canned motor design does not require shaft seals, conventional bearings and couplings, which results in optimal operation reliability, experiences hardly any deterioration, and maintains a high Mean Time Between Repairs (MTBR) value.

Russia, which has huge fossil fuel resources, is both a large and challenging market because of the “special certifications” that are required.  Furthermore, extreme conditions such as outdoor temperatures that can reach minus 60 degrees Celsius and operating temperatures of more than 300 degrees Celsius have to be taken into consideration.

When such standard technologies reach their operational viability, HERMETIC pumps are always brought into action. These pumps have been designed to handle various demanding conditions such as high system pressures, temperature fluctuations as well as materials that are very difficult to transport.
